The Sundered Stars Book Review: A Space Saga That Blazes Across Galaxies

Cover Image - The Sundered Stars - Book Review: A Space Saga That Blazes Across Galaxies

The Sundered Stars by H.E. Bauman is a thrilling space adventure with grit, magic and just enough heart. It’s a sci-fi fantasy blend with bounty hunters, magical artefacts and planetary warfare. And this space saga blazes across galaxies.

It’s the first book in the Starborne Saga, with a strong FMC. If you’re into galactic adventures and some slow-burn tension, The Sundered Stars checks out.

My Rating:

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

“A space saga that blazes across galaxies.”

What the Book is About

Mora “Mo” Cevi is a no-nonsense bounty hunter waiting to call it quits. A military contract, then, pulls her in for a well-paid, hopefully, last mission to guard archaeologists. Ezra Lyre, a decorated military commander of the Federation, too, finds himself pulled from war duty to shield them. Both teams have their differences but agree to work alongside.

When a powerful crystal is stolen by some soldiers, the two are forced to work together in an off-the-record high-stakes pursuit. Uncovering secrets and conspiracies threatening the very heart of the Federation.

What Works?

There’s never a dull moment. From the very beginning, the pace is sharp and the stakes are high. Mo and Ezra bring equal weight to the story, both as individuals and as a team.

Also, the world-building is rich but accessible. You don’t get hit with an encyclopedia upfront. The universe, instead, unfolds gradually with new locations and alien species introduced as the story moves forward.

And one of the best things is that the spotlight isn’t just on the leads. Supporting crew members have their own roles and moments to shine, making the entire operation feel alive and tactical.

What Falls Short?

There isn’t anything as such. It’s just that at nearly 600 pages, I was hoping for some more closure. The book doesn’t leave you hanging completely, but yeah the story continues.

Who Should Read It?

The Sundered Stars is a sci-fi with political intrigue, and it’s ideal for fans of space operas. If you would love to read a story with a tough FMC and magical fantasy elements that blend magic with machines, this one’s for you.

Final Thoughts

The Sundered Stars is a gripping, high-octane space epic that delivers action, depth and character. Expect battles, betrayals, interstellar travel and a touch of romance amidst the chaos. Bauman has laid the groundwork for an expansive saga, and I’m already strapped in for the next ride.
