Don’t Bite the Director Book Review: A Vampire Rom-Com That’s Bloody Fun

Don’t Bite the Director by T. M. Kirk is a paranormal romance with bite. It has got vampires, road trips, and a dying horror film director who’s not ready to go without finishing her movie. The book is a vampire rom-com that’s bloody fun.
From laugh-out-loud moments to unexpected tension and chemistry, it packs plenty of emotions. It’s a fun, spicy read that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

What the Book is About
Cora Lee, an indie film director, is dying, but she’s made peace with it. All she wants is to finish her vampire movie before the clock runs out. But when a real vampire named Saiden shows up to shut the production down, things spiral.
Saiden has one mission: stop Cora’s film. But when he realises she’s his fated mate, things get a lot more complicated. To buy some time (and hopefully win her over), he convinces her to hit the road and plead her case to the vampire higher-ups. She just has one rule: Don’t bite the director.
What Works
The banter between Cora and Saiden is fun, witty and electric. Once the story picks up, it becomes unputdownable, with a mix of tension, spice and humour that keeps the vibe lively. You also get moments of emotional reflection, but the tone stays light-hearted.
The book doesn’t try to be overly deep or brooding... and that’s its charm. It skips heavy world-building and still manages to stay immersive through dialogue and action.
What Falls Short
The first couple of chapters feel a bit underwhelming, especially with the dual POV structure that takes a while to click. It might make some readers consider a DNF early on. But sticking through rewards you with fun chemistry and pacing. Character development was also rather hasty, but it kind of works for the type of story it’s trying to be.
Who Should Read It
If you’re a fan of vampire rom-coms, fast-paced romantic tension, or looking for a low-commitment, high-entertainment read, you’ll like it. It has a supernatural meet-cute theme. The book has light spice, however, making it more suitabale for adults.
Final Thoughts
Don’t Bite the Director is quirky, flirty and full of undead energy. It delivers what it promises: laughs, steam and a vampire/human dynamic that doesn't take itself too seriously. It’s the kind of book to read in one go, preferably with popcorn.
